Max Elto

Max Elto - Backyard Animals

"They don't seem so happy to me"

Max Elto Kills Taped Rai. Now that's not quite right but it's close. Taped Rai is now Max Elto. When did this happen? If you know me, then you know I have been jumping up and down for Taped Rai's Shadow of the Sun for a while now. I love that spin. It's one of my favorite songs this year. I have been hitting repeat constantly. I have been searching iTunes for Taped Rai daily for quite a while now. Well I guess I needed to look for something else and that something else is Max Elto. Same guys from Sweden, same sound and same songs just the name has changed. I guess to protect the innocent. Either way they just released Backyard Animals and I believe a whole EP will be forth coming. I can't wait. I love the Swede's.

Hey I've talked about one of my favorite one man groups Radical Face before and now I have something new to share with you. Holy Branches is the first release from the up and coming EP, The Family Tree: The Branches, and I just love it. It's perfect Radical Face. The tone is right on, the vibe is just smooth and it leaves me wanting more. I can't wait to get my hands, or ears, on the new EP. Take a spin on past Radical Face songs here: GloryDoorwaysWelcome Home and We're on Our Way. Damm this is good. It's been two years and the wait is almost over. Shivum Sharma

Shivum Sharma - Flicker

"The power of you it drifted into me"

This is just beautiful. Shivum Sharma is new to me and I am loving it. "Dave you love everything" I heard you say. Well this is my blog so I'm not going to post things I don't like and most often I'm going to post the things that I love. Flicker is easy to love. It's simply beautiful. This young punter from the UK who wrote and produced this amazing spin did it alone in his bedroom. That's why it's labeled bedroom demo. That's crazy. What a talent. This young man is unbelievable and this spin is incredible. I can't wait to hear more from him. He is just starting and I hope he continues to let us join him on his musical journey. It's going to be fun.

Keep Shelly In Athens

Keep Shelly In Athens - Addictions

Now how did that happen. I have noticed that I have become a big fan of Keep Shelly In Athens. I knew I liked them. I was thinking I even posted them and so I went and looked and, wow, sure enough I have posted Recollection and Flyway but how did I miss that. I feel like something slipped through my fingers. Here I have them in my back pocket, I keep pulling them out and I love everything I hear from them but they are always new to me. It's as if I have this Keep Shelly angel looking after me but I keep, well, missing them. I mean, listen to this Addictions, it's incredible! I think they give me such joy that I have to block out their existence to keep my sanity. Im glad they won't let me go though. I'm going to have to write something down so I won't forget that I really like this band.

Indiana

Indiana - Animal

"Release my mind from your grip"

Have you heard Indiana yet! Boy you need to if you haven't. This girl is deep, this young lady is hot and I am loving everything I hear from her. This British Lass is swimming in talent. I love her spin Bound so much I have already posted it twice, once was Bound the video, which is hot, and the second time because I needed another fix from that spin. Swim Good and Smoking Gun are just as amazing. I guess I needed some more Indiana so I had to post Animal to get some more Indiana love. It's hot and she is feeling every note and I feel this deep passion from her when she spins. Give this a shot and definitely give Bound a spin. You're going to love her as much as I do.

Turtle

Turtle - Who Knows

"Could it be a new revolution or could it be nothing at all"

I am really enjoying Turtle. This spin, Who Knows, is really quite wonderful. Another British punter who seems to be speaking directly to my soul. I think I was born in the wrong place sometimes. I feel so connected to these boys in The UK and Australia. Well this World Wide Web has let me find my soul brothers out there and I couldn't be more thankful. I mean really you have to listen to this spin. It's powerful, it's like a message found in a bottle, it's the reason I listen to a lot of bad spins so I can find treasures like this to share with you. I don't want this spin to end and then, wow, it's over. Did I miss something? Did I hear it as it went by in a flash? This is definitely one spin your going to want to repeat and then repeat again to catch what Turtle is telling us. Yup, I am enjoying this spin.

George Ezra

George Ezra - Did You Hear The Rain?

"Did I send a shiver down your spine"

George your back. How wonderful. And you brought a band. How marvelous. You have such an amazing voice it is so nice to see you backing it up with the full sound of a supporting band. It really is fantastic to hear you like this. Don't get me wrong, I love the simplicity you have with It's Just My Skin. Brother that song is heartbreaking. Budapest was fun and you had some boys to back you up on that spin. But this, Did You Hear The Rain, is full on, get everyone in the pool, bring your instrument, rock n roll band. I am so happy you can get along with others because they sure make you sound good. Well, come in and set that spin up Jorge. You sound great!

Sivu

Sivu - I Lost Myself

"I tried to forget"

I'm lost in Sivu. This is great. I Lost Myself by Sivu is a big sound for such a little guy. It's a moving lyrical journey about finding yourself by losing yourself. Now that's just fun. I was lost but you where the one who lost me kind of riddle. Again I will say it - this is fun. Back in August we found ourselves in Over & Over by Sivu and now we are lost in I Lost Myself. Autocorrect keeps wanting to call Sivu Sufi and I think that is very telling that a ancient mystic religion would find its way to Sivu. This is deep, this is mystical, maybe autocorrect is on to something. Be that as it may, I do enjoy kicking back to Sivu and getting lost in this mystical spin.

Jon Hopkins

Jon Hopkins - Breathe This Air feat. Purity Ring

"I sleep and I wish for not a thing at all"

This is interesting. Jon Hopkins has done something special here with Purity Ring. Breathe The Air is really quite wonderful. Complex and yet simple. Strange and yet comforting. It might take you a couple of spins to really get this one. That's ok. I don't think it's supposed to be understood or relished like most spins. It's different and that "uniqueness" is what makes this special. Jon has been awarded a bunch of accolades and he deserves everyone of them. There is such talent in this British punter that I am amazed by everything he touches. Gives this a couple of spins and I am sure you'll see what I mean.

Oliver Tank

Oliver Tank - Different Speed feat. Ta-Ku

"I drift around at night in your dreams"

Oliver Tank is my favorite! I was just crying for some new tunes from Oly and he must have heard my plea because we now have Different Speed featuring fellow Aussie Ta-Ku. Woo Hoo! I love it but I love everything he does. This bloke from down under has made me a real fan with EmbraceI Love YouLast Night I Heard Everything In Slow Motion, and Up All Night. I was reading that this coming November we will be getting some new spins when he drops a new EP and I am ECSTATIC. This Different Speed spin is perfect Olive Tank with it's dreamy electric vibe, lush ambient sound and soulful lyrics. I have been thinking about all of this wonderful new music out today and how Oly was one of my first finds and I can't believe it's been two years since I first heard Dreams. For me, he leads the way in how it's done with style, class and amazing talent. I'm so excited and can't wait to hear the rest of the new EP. Bring it on Oly!

Lulu James

Lulu James - Sweetest Thing

"It's nice to hear you speak"

This is talent. I love the R&B soul married with the electric sound that Lulu James has in all of her spins. I featured Step By Step back in June and I am so pleased to be sharing Sweetest Thing with you now. Her voice is so rich and full of life, her sound is so today. What a gift Lulu is to today's music scene. Don't you just want her to sing you to sleep? I do. I want her to come over and make me feel safe and happy and she does that with this Sweetest Thing. The truly sweetest thing is Lulu herself if you ask me. I read somewhere someone said that she was a 21st century soul sister from North East England. Well that's just fine if you ask me. It's beautiful and she can sing me the phone book if she wants. What an amazing talent!

Rogue Wave

Rogue Wave - College

"You can not acknowledge all the thing we did in college"

Rogue Wave spins us to College. I loved college and now I have a bunch of young girls in my life who have started college. I hope they have as much fun as I did. Well, maybe not as much but certainly a real good time while they are chasing that sheep skin. This spin took me right back to that dorm, those friends and those wonderful lovers who showed me the way. Those nights up late studying. Those early mornings dragging into class. It was the time of my life. Now if you stay up to late, drink some water and a couple of aspirins before you go to bed. Don't hit that snooze to much, just get up, shower and go to class. It's why your there. And if you get the chance, fall in love every time. This is such a great spin to transport me back to a time I still dream about. (Sigh) How fun is that?

Haim

Haim - Let Me Go

"I will wait, I will want, wait till the day I have you back again"

Haim has IT! I have been following Haim for awhile now and I just love these girls. The first time I heard Better Off I was hooked and had to have more. I was happy to hear Forever. I swooned over every drip and ever drop they put out. I turned all my friends on to The Wire and I truly believe that it is one of this years best songs. Now I have Let Me Go and like a Haim addict I have another fix. This is brilliant. Everything they have been putting out is brilliant. Can I get this in a drink? Can I take a Haim pill? I need them administered every four hours for at least a week. Listen to this and all the spins by them I have posted and tell me you won't join me in the hospice of Haim. I can't get enough of these girls. These sisters rock and I want to have your musical babies. I'll carry them so you all can keep putting out hit after hit. Ok, things just got a little weird. I'm sorry if I freaked you out. I'm in love and don't know what I'm saying. Hmmm, please Haim, can I have some more? I love these girls!

RAC

RAC - Let Go feat. Kele & MNDR

"They ask how I can love you"

This is tight. This is done right. RAC, aka André Anjos, has another quality spin for us here with Let Go. It's just amazing what is out there today with new music. These young artists have a sound that is pure, defined and RAC is just fun. Put them on when your studying, play them on the way to work and they will keep you company never leaving you alone. André has brought in MNDR from New York City, and British artist Kele to really give this spin some polish. It's as if they have been working together forever. This spin is that tight. WOW! I love it!

Junior Prom

Junior Prom - Sheila Put The Knife Down

"There's a lot I never said"

I want this spin to go big! Junior Prom has, in my opinion, one of the most fun spins of the year here with Sheila Put The Knife Down. It's loud, it's catchy and it's just so damm fun. It's a day in the life kind of spin. I don't know about you but this cracks me up. What did he do to make Sheila grab that knife? Will she come to her senses before she cuts that boy? It's a lyrical story that paints a picture that makes me laugh. Maybe I'm the one who needs the help, hmmm? I found out that Junior Prom is a music duo comprised of Mark Solomich and Erik Ratensperger. Based in Brooklyn, the two have been operating just over a year and will be releasing their debut EP this fall on Elektra Records. Kind of just the facts there. All I know is this is fun and I can't wait to here more from these two. I so want this to go big!

Fossil Collective

Fossil Collective - The Water

"Don't hesitate, one way or another we'll arrive on time"

A masterpiece of music. Fossil Collective paints us a great picture, like the genius artist, they put together a collection of notes and spin them into to a great song in The Water. It's dreamy, it's rich and it's simple beauty. I love the painting of pictures with music and this song is a masterpiece. It is not a random collection of notes but a song where every tone, every harmony and every beat has a place in the fabric of this spin. I can't get enough of this beautiful song. I understand that this self produced cd will be released at the end of October and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Simply beautiful.

Generationals

Generationals - Put A Light On

"I try to find the way, then maybe walk away"

Generationals keep the fun going. It's a little weird, it's a little off, but it is sure a lot of fun. This is an earworm that keeps drilling in your head till it comes out the other side. It's addicting and I love it. I love that it's weird, I love that it's off, that's what makes it fun. I played this for my friends and at first they where like, oh no Dave, this one is bad, but then sure enough the earworm dug in and I was being asked "play the weird song." I laughed because this little diddy has some real charm and it's not something you can listen to only once. Back in July we chimed the bells of Say For Certain by the Generationals and I think the Put A Light On video played here as well but I had to spin it again after "play the weird song" made its way into my world. It starts out small then next thing you know you gatta have it. Gatta play this again and again. Man I dig this.

MØ - Never Wanna Know

"Burn the moon, it blows again, and my life goes on my friend, wisdom words, we work out"

MØ blends past, present and future into quality spins. Listening to Never Wanna Know reminds me of my mothers stash of music. I thank her for sharing that love of music with me because it's something I cherish. MØ has a feel from the past with its bass leading the bells in a reminiscent 1950's power girl group spin. But I don't think this spin is stuck in the past but rather a tribute to that past for today's great music renaissance. Hey, MØ raps a little and it's just enough. Back in June I showcased Waste Of Time, an electro pop spin, that is not the past coming back but a down and dirty spin from today's music. Never Wanna Know is a fun showcase of the incredible talent that is MØ. I am loving this!

Grouplove

Grouplove - Ways To Go

"Been working like a dog, I turned all my dreams off"

Grouplove is about fun! I get the biggest kick out of Grouplove. Everything they spin is so much fun. Happy happy spins for us to jump too. Their spin Naked Kids is an absolute blast and this spin, Ways To Go, is unadulterated FUN. I think it's ironic that their first cd was "Never Trust A Happy Song" when they make me so damm happy. And now with the release of Spreading Rumors they keep the party going to never ending fun. With all of the deep dark and sensitive spins out today it is so nice to jump on the Grouplove band wagon for some happy. Thanks guys, I needed this today.

Agnes Obel

Agnes Obel - The Curse

"Only then would they know the blessing in disguise"

Angels weep when Agnes sings. It's been a few years since dear Agnes has released a new spin for us but that all changes with The Curse and it's just wonderful. Brother Sparrow has been one of my favorite spins for years now and that wonderful simple mystical sound is again recaptured in The Curse. Sweet, simplistic and haunting would be how I would describe this wonderful spin. It's pumpkin carving, tricker treat begging, autumn fun on a cool evening, with a hot cider and a cuddly lover, wonderful spin. I am so happy to have Agnes back in my life. I don't feel cursed with this spin I feel blessed. Thanks for coming back Agnes. I missed you.

Eilidh Hadden

Eilidh Hadden - Close To Home

"You're running from the darkest night"

I dig Eilidh Hadden! Something about this song just turns me on. Have you heard it yet! Give it a listen. Rocks huh! This Scottish Lass has something very special here with Close To Home. It's catchy man. It gets inside your head and makes its self at home. That chorus is the bomb. I just love good songs that stick around for a while that you need to keep going back to them to hear it again and again. And this is one of those spins. I dare you. Give this a listen and see if you're not as hooked on this spin as I am. Man, I dig Eilidh Hadden.
